A Tony Martin Law Long OverDue

Comment 17th July 2010

No-one in any circumstances should be charged  with either murder or manslaughter for killing what they perceive to be a burglar inside their home.

Why does this matter?

In isolated rural areas it may take two hours for a police officer to respond to a 999 call.

The only way to make sure that a burglar is not going to be a danger in these circumstances is to use lethal force, even if this means shooting them, using multiple blows with a blunt instrument, or stabbing them many times.

No-one should be in fear of prosecution in such circumstances.

The current "reasonable force" is just not applicable in the circumstance of a burglar in your home.
