Abolish All Laws in the Statute Book..

Comment 29th July 2010

… and replace with a single catch-all law that states that injury, harm or loss may not be caused against persons or property. The onus must be placed on prosecuters to demonstrate that such has been caused. Courts should take into account whether it was deliberate or accidental and where possible, require the offender to make amends with their victim.

Why does this matter?

Any law that does not involve injury or loss exists purely as a means to extort money from people (e.g. parking fines) or to protect corporate interests.

Also convicted offenders should not be considered to be repaying a debt to society. They don't owe a debt to society, the debt is owed to the victim(s) of the crime.
