Abolish Government Crown Immunity

1 Comment 23rd July 2010

We have seen many governments of all political persuasions do things that are clearly political malfeasance (official misconduct) and not in the interests of the country or its people.

My idea is to abolish Crown Immunity for all politicians so they can be held to account by the people. All registered voters must have the ability, by an on poll or other mechanism, where a simple numerical threshold is exceeded (in the order of 50,000), to call for politicians to be prosecuted where their actions demand it.

We, the people, must have the ability to punish politicians who do wrong, either individually or collectively.

Why does this matter?

We have seen many examples of government where poor judgement or political expediency has brought the country into disrepute or caused economic impoverishment.

For example Gordon Brown telling the world that he was going to sell off half of the UK gold reserves, the gold price falling dramatically, then selling the gold and loosing millions of £'s in the process.

It is very important that all politicians can be held to account.
