Abolish the requirement for commuhity groups and churches to tell the local authority and police if they plan to hold an event where alcohol is being offered.
Why does this idea matter?
This is a heavy handed approach to stopping alcohol abuse and controllign its sale. If we want to hold a concert or dramatic event in a church or cimmunity centre as an outreach to the local people, and want to give people a glass of wine in the interval we need to pay for and fill in a ten page form including National Insurance numbers of people running the event. If we miss an arbitray time limit we cannot serve the wine. This does nothing to control binge drinking, or illegal selling of alcohol and is just a bureaucratic irritation to event organisers.
