Abolish Temporary Events Notices

Comment 8th July 2010

Temporary Events Notices are required for almost any event organised by vouluntary organisations, down to a village band playing in a market place for an hour. There is a 5 page form, requiring needless personal information of the person applying, 6 pages of explanatory notes and a fee of £21. The local authority then has to administer this bureaucracy by issuing a T.E.N. which is supposed to be on display at the event, for no discernable purpose.

Why does this matter?

T.E.N.s are are a significant administrative and financial burden on a huge number of local organisations organising events which give life to communities. They are time consuming to people whose time is free but not worthless and , by their very complexity, impose a significant burden on local authorities.
