Access to Census Records for 1921 and 1931

Comment 13th August 2010

Would the government consider opening the access to Census records for 1921 and 1931. I can't think of any reason why the records should remain restricted and unavailable to those people like myself who are very keen to trace records relating to family history and corroborate evidence with relatives who are still alive. This could also be a new source of revenue for the government. The opening of the 1901 and 1911 census records proved extremely popular and has brought in a significant amount of additional revenue and proved a useful service to the public

Why does this matter?

It is consistent with open government and commitments to improve our civil liberties and access to information held about individuals that is not of a nature to cause issues with personal privacy. It is also a potential new source of revenue for the government.
