HM Government should as quickly as possible award a National Defence Medal (NDM) in recognition of the special service given to their country by serving members and veterans of HM Forces. Our Australian and New Zealand comrades have such a medal which was approved by HM the Queen.
It is important because equality, discrimmination, respect, service to country and society's value systems are involved. No NDM for UK Forces means they are treated differently to Commonwealth Forces. Awarding the NDM would reinforce a desirable value system that recognises the special demands on those who volunteer to serve their country in the Armed Forces.
