Building Regulations

Comment 1st July 2010

Remove requirement that new homes should have a minimum of four low energy light fittings

Why does this matter?

It has been implemented by fitting a non-standard bayonet light fitting socket for which there is only one manufacturer of low energy bulbs that cost at least twice that of ordinary low energy bulbs.

High energy bulbs are being phased out in the near future. The regulation is unnecessary.

Building regulations should not be used to create monopoly suppliers.
