Christmas in December

Comment 20th July 2010

All shops and other public spaces should be prevented from imposing Christmas on us until December 1st.

This would mean no garish displays of lights, tinsel or muzak playing Christmas songs until that date.

Why does this matter?

These days the Christmas season seems to start earlier each year.  Last year mince pies were in the supermarkets in September.

The result of all this is that by the time the Chriastmas season really starts we all already sick of it. There were mince pies in the shops wqoith 'best before' dates in November.  what's the point of that.

Let's keep Christmas special by keeping it brief.  All public displays of Christmas should not start until December 1st and should be away again by Twelfth Night.
