Clean up the Internet

Comment 21st July 2010

The government should require Internet Service Providers (ISP) in the UK to apply for a licence to operate in the UK. There should be a hefty licence fee and stiff conditions of conduct. These conditions must include the duty of the ISP to screen spam, viruses, pornography and other undesirable email and web sites.

Why does this matter?

This would save huge amounts of money spent by companies in buying software for firewalls, anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc., and in employing staff to keep company computer systems safe.

It would save individual members of the public having to buy anti-virus software and administer it.

It would give parents peace of mind that their children were not being exposed to porography, etc.
