CRB CHECK FOR VOLUNTEERING ON SCHOOL TRIP

Comment 12th July 2010

GET RID OF CRB CHECKS FOR PARENTS WANTING TO HELP OUT ON SCHOOL TRIPS. THESE ARE ONLY ONCE OR TWICE A YEAR, IT SHOULDN'T BE NECESSARY TO GO WITH YOUR OWN CHILD WHEN YOU ARE ONLY CONCERNED FOR THEIR SAFETY, ESPECIALLY AT RECEPTION AGE WHEN THEY AREN'T AWAY FROM PARENTS BEFORE. IF THEY DO INSIST ON IT THE SCHOOL SHOULD PAY FOR IT, I LOOK AT IT LIKE THE SCHOOL IS HAPPY ENOUGH FOR THE SAME PARENTS TO GO IN DAY IN DAY OUT AND HAVE ACCESS TO THE SAME KIDS, WHERE IS THE DIFFERENCE?

Why does this matter?

CRB Checks are totally unfair, i am unable to attend my 5yr old sons first ever school trip as a helper as i have never had this done. the school states the borough requires all parents to have this done, some are lucky enough to have done so but i have no experience with working with kids in the past but i have always looked after other peoples kids as favours or whatever.i have looked online and i can't find anywhere which says hillingdon council demand this but the school says otherwise. i now have to explain to my child why mummy can't go with him, its pathetic, the same parents can access the school at anytime once they have a visitor badge on but can't go on a day trip with the same kids who have never been away without their parents before, they trust us to take our kids to and from school and mix with other kids while we are there but not on a trip, doesn't make sense. i only want to be there for my son, they dont give a damn.
