Reduce the requirement for CRB checks to only those offences which directly involve abuse of young children or old people
Why is it important?
Too many jobs now require a CRB check, quite unnecessarily in my view. The young particularly are being criminalised for "stupid" things they may have done i.e. public disorder while under the influence of alcohol etc. They often receive a police caution and the effect of this can have a really damaging effect on their future careers. They often do not understand the implication of accepting a police caution. This is merely the outcome of the ridiculous performance indicator society that we have become. Issuing a police caution means a tick in the box for the arresting police force with no regard to the effect it might have on the individual.
