Decriminalise/regulate Cannabis

Comment 4th July 2010

It's obvious that thousands (if not millions) of people in the UK are screaming out this law changed once and for all. Used widely throughout the UK by all class' of people, cannabis is now seen by many in society as a substance thats no more harmful than alchohol. Putting the obvious social and health issues aside by the effects of alchohol, cannabis, like alchohl, could be taxed accordingly if regulated properly by the government. The government are loosing out on millions of pounds by keeping this unregulated.

Why does this matter?

By keeping cannabis illegal, users are forced to have to go into often unsafe enviroments/situations to deal with shady characters who over charge for what they sell. By regulating the drug, it means that there would be no worry about what it is you are buying (i.e. a mix of things that aren't natural) and that money is taken away from the criminal gangs that much of the drugs lead to. Thus, inevitabley siezing certain powers of the gangs.

In corolation with the growing of it, hemp plants can be used for things such as paper and clothes, and is obviously beneficial to the environment. Regulating the drug would create thousands of jobs across the UK that would affect much of the main sectors of the economy. The world has changed, and we need to change with it
