Please refine the Disability Discrimination in Employment. This is good for those with a true Disability – but is so woolley in its definition that we have a current employee (we only employ 9 staff) taking us to Employment Tribunal on a 'no win no fee' claiming that Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a Disability. If this is found to be the case. What is the potential cost to Employers and the Government? A good percentage of the female population suffers from IBS. What next? If we are extending the age of employees to over 65 (a good thing) will Ageing become a 'disability'. It certainly fits the current criteria of the Act.
The current and worrying potential cost to Employers and the Government with this ill-defined Act.
