Don’t pass laws to temporarily shut motorways etc.

Comment 16th July 2010

Do away with the requirement to pass orders to temporarily shut major roads. THis seems to be a cottage industry in its own right and presumably costs the taxpayer money. Why not have broad powers allowing necessary bodies to temporarily shut major roads without having to go to all the bother of having regs/orders passed.

Why does this matter?

Its one example of bureaucracy gone mad. If you look at the HMSO site for new Statutory Instruments its incredible the things this country chooses to legislate about – the above is one example, there are hundreds of others.
