ensure consistency of rabies vaccination requirements for pet passports

Comment 5th July 2010

that a dog who has been vaccinated and has a blood test to demonstrate the vaccination has been effective should be able to travel into the UK without a six month 'wait' after the confirming blood test.

Why does this matter?

The rules regarding rabies vaccination for countries across europe seem to differ, which could lead to at best confusion and at worst unnecessary quarantine. Unless there is clear scientific evidence to suggest that a dog, especially one bred and raised in the UK, vaccinated against rabies and with an effective blood test is really at risk of carrying or catching rabies then the waiting period should be removed.
