The idea
It is about time that the courts were made accountable for decisions to let women off lightly. If a man would be sent to prison for drinking a bottle of vodka before the school run, then a woman should be given the same punishment. If not, then the sex discrimination act is not working. Equality means equal punishment, not just equal pay.
Why is it important?
Equality needs to be seen to be applied equally.
Efforts have been made to ensure the police, courts etc are not institutionally racist, why should they remain institutionall sexist?
