Fairness from Public Bodies

Comment 6th July 2010

There's a lot of talk about the country's belief in a moral status and human rights. This also means that when public bodies make mistakes which detrimentally affect someone's life, they should own up and correct the mistake they have made.

Maladministration is a particular problem within public bodies however, a complaints procedure will mostly blame the person on the receiving end and not the internal processes which went wrong. To uphold a moral status and human rights in this country we also need honesty and a civil service which is willing to correct the errors it makes.

Why does this matter?

My idea is important because it will stop vulnerable people suffering poverty, hunger, destitution and all the further complications which are invisibly added when administrative processes go wrong and are not accepted by public authorities.

This is also particularly significant for the disabled who are one of the most vulnerable in this country, who should be supported rather than hindered in their progression in life.
