Get rid of house in multiple occupation regulations

Comment 5th August 2010

Houses in multiple occupation should be got rid of as a piece of legislation.  It is a raft of inspection and bureaucracy that costs money and has no real benefit.  The residents certainy don't care and the landlord just sees it as more hassle with red taape. What happened to the student flat where it was accepted there would be  a squeeze, or a lot of people sharing one cooker – it was cheap!

Now we have to maintain expensive standards and keep lists of who lives there, when they move in and out, this is all a duplicate of the requirements for rent books.  Let alone the landlord registration scheme.

Why does this matter?

HMOs are part of the nanny state, let's free people up to make their own decisions and get rid of unnecessry bureaucracy
