include academies in freedom of information

Academies are not public authorities and so are exempt from freedom of information. I propose that academies should be subject to the same law as public authorities.

Why does this idea matter?

Academies benefit from public money yet academy managers need give no account. Parochially, I have been asking for details of how to become a governor at a local academy and for details of its sixth form curriculum for some two years now – without response.
