Include maintenance payments on child tax credit form

Parents should have to declare maintenance payments gained/paid in addition to employment income on their claim form

Why does this idea matter?

due to the increasingly common marital separation and later re marrying many single parents are gaining full Child Tax Credits and maintenance payments from former partners on top of their income. and sometimes new household income from a new partner which has moved in with them.

we no longer live in a society where all women are the lower wage earners and need this financial help.

furthermore former partners outgoing maintenance payments arent taken into account when disclosing income whilst claiming new tax credits with later marriages and subsequent families.

this isnt an opportunity for crude remarks about divorces or not moving on and having a new life, but about being fair for both sexes and both families.
