A lot of the foreign lorries are not up to safety standards when they enter into the UK. Defective brakes, tyres, etc are a big concern. A high volume of drivers have also been involved in accidents and have cost lives and money.
As it stands they pay no charges and not even fuel duty as its cheaper for them to fill a tank before entering the UK.
They should pay their way whilst being in the UK and face the same tough inspections and payments as UK drivers.
Why does this idea matter?
It will add much needed funds to the economy, save lives and cover some of the burden these trucks cause to our roads.
