IR35 restricting small businesses

Comment 1st July 2010

The IR35 tax laws are forcing sole workers out of the labour market and companies cannot use this labour effectively. Get rid of the laws or clarify them to give companies and sole workers reasonable options

Why does this matter?

This tax law puts small businesses and sole traders in an unworkable position where there is no options for maintaining working for contracts that most companies want. There is no alternative because companies do not want to employ staff. Changing this law will free up both companies and contract labour. Sole contractors will be free to work without having the real worry that they are working outside the law and new people will be happy to enter into the labour market.
