IR35 / S220

Comment 7th July 2010

Remove IR35 / S220 tax regulations.  For small service companies and family businesses these regulations leave us in an appallingly ambiguous tax situation.  I run a consulting firm that does exactly the same work, in the same way as work I used to do when employed by PwC, etc.  Now as owner / director of my own business I face the risk of claims for tens of thousands of pounds in back tax based on poorly defined interpretation of the regulations.  This hampers my business development as I have had to become very cautious of my financial exposure and is both unfair and bad for the economy.

Why does this matter?
