Light Pollution

Comment 11th July 2010

A huge proportion of street lighting serves only to light the sky, causing light pollution with self-evident effects on human and animal life.

Fitting a simple downward reflector on street lights would not only dramatically reduce light pollution, but would also save energy,as existing lights would be made more efficient.

Why does this matter?

This would cost little,as it could be fitted to new lights as they are replaced, and would have the effect of reducing energy bills, improving lighting and substantially reducing light pollution.
