Make the Early Years Foundation Stage non-statutory

The statutory nature of the Early Years Foundation Stage, otherwise known as the Nappy Curriculum has caused intolerable workload for teachers and support staff in schools. Many questions are being asked about its lack of clarity and logic. Many respected early years professionals are calling for this law to be reduced to guidance and for power to be given back to teachers to teach.

Why does this matter?

Teachers feel disempowered, overloaded and confused by the contradictory interpretation of this law by Local authorities and OFsted and many are leaving the profession. Many feel that they are failing the children in their care because of this law.
