The 2004 Orders in Council banning the Chagossians from their homeland should be repealed.
Why does this idea matter?
The Orders in Council banning the Chagossians from their homeland is another great act of injustice against these people. The islanders were evicted from their homeland in the 1960's so that this country could let the USA use it as a military base during the Cold War. Successive governments have done their best to stop the islanders from returning, costing the tax payers a great deal of money, by appealing decisions in the Courts that have gone in the islanders favour. The case will now be considered by the European Court of Human Rights in the last week of July.
