Permanent CBT for motorcyclists

Comment 5th July 2010

Stop the DVLA requirement to re-do the Compulsory Basic Training Certificate (CBT) every two years.  One CBT should be sufficient to allow a user to ride a motorcycle up to 125cc for the rest of their life.  You only take a car test once, why should you have to retake a bike test every two years?

Why does this matter?

This will be my fifth CBT, I do not have the time, money or the inclination to take a full category A motorcyle test and I do not see why I should be forced to re-take this one day course every two years.  This idea will

– save DVLA administration costs;

– allow more people to use a scooter or motorcyle as an alternative, green mode of transport;
