Protection for pregnant women from loosing jobs

Comment 10th July 2010

Women employed with a job agency on temporary contract.

Aim: Protection from dismissal of pregnant women who go for maternity leave. Extension of the contract of employment to the last day of maternity leave and legal duty of the employer to offer the same or similar employment to those women.

Situation now: The temporary contract of employment (secondment) is ceased when a woman goes for maternity leave.

Why does this matter?

Current law allows for discrimination on sex background. It also increases poverty amongst women and children and increase the dependency of mothers on state benefits.
