Reduce scope of vetting and barring

Comment 3rd July 2010

The strict rules covering volunteers who work with children, etc should be relaxed.  It should be up to each school, local authority, etc to make a decision on whether a CRB check should be required dependant on the circumstances of each case. E.G. if a member of staff is also present, how many volunteers are going to be working together.

Why does this matter?

To stop discouraging people from the vital role of volunteering to work with children.  This should be based on a database of those with criminal records NOT a database of innocent people.
