REmove or revise the Farriers Registration Act

Comment 14th July 2010

This act doubles up on existing animal welfare laws, and has only served to prevent and stifle the introduction of shoeing methods other than the traditional iron shoe. It has also promoted cartel type pricing, and closed shop practice. It also failed to prevent distress to horses etc, as there’s many a bad farrier out there.
Modern methods are not a part of the current training, and are often over priced by the farriers who do not want their introduction, or understand the methods of use.

Why does this matter?

The existing law prevents progress in equine welfare, and has failed to protect equines either.
