Remove Police like powers from Accredited Persons

Comment 5th July 2010

To remove all police like powers from accredited persons, and to retain them solely in the perserve of those granted the office of constable.

Why does this matter?

In an effort to tackle antisocial behaviour, the governement has created multiple agencies and individuals with limited police powers, in order to create "two-tier" policing.. There is little consistency over geographic areas of the nature of these powers, and little to identify those accredited and those to claim to be accredited. All these powers should be removed, and placed in the hands of a trained police force. The money saved by removing the accredited persons could then be placed on hiring new police officers, advertising for more special constables, and better perks for special constables.
