Remove the requirement for double glazed windows to have eithar FENSA or Building Regs approval

Comment 6th July 2010

On replacing two upvc double glazed windows recently in a house I was renovating, ( simple job for a skilled builder) I discovered that in order to sell the property I had to have either FENSA (a trade organisation) approval or Local authority Building Reg approval. I opted for the latter at a cost of £75, the inspection took two minutes. Clearly this is anticompetitive. Its only windows for Gods sake!

Why does this matter?

The anticompetitive nature of the regulation places unnecessary costs on the consumer
