Repeal anti-discrimination laws

Comment 2nd July 2010

All laws forbidding discrimination (at least in the private sector) should be repealed.  This would apply to discrimination on the grounds of race, sex, sexual orientation, disability, etc.

Why does this matter?

It is now generally believed, in our society, that discrimination is a bad thing.  A very bad thing.  In fact, this belief is now so well established that it seems to be hardly ever questioned.

i think this belief is, itself, a prejudice and one that is currently dominant.  In my view, we would be more liberated wihout it.

I think what matters is not whether we discriminate, but the degree to which we are barbaric or civilised.   Consider the options of being a)  barbaric and disciminatory, like the Nazis, b) barbaric and not discriminatory, like Stalin, c) not discriminatory and civilised, or d) discriminatory and civilised,   In d) I would include for example, preferring to have a sexual partner of a particular race, having preconceptions based on race, sex, etc. and preferring to employ somebody of one type rather than another (all of which is discrimination) while at the same time wanting everyone to be treated decently.   If I consider those 4 categories, a), b), c) & d), what seems to me by far the more important issue is whether or not one is barbaric, rather than whether one is discriminatory.   But established thinking seems to be that to be discriminatory is a very serious matter, rather like being a Nazi.

For this reason it is thought justified to have laws that restrict our freedom to choose who we want to employ, how we behave and what we say.  The anti-discrimination ideology seems to be itself an intolerant dogma that prevents freedom of thought.
