Repeal ban on 100W light bulbs

Comment 12th February 2015

The sale of 100W light bulbs and, it seems, all frosted light bulbs not deemed energy efficient were banned last year.

Why does this matter?

The government should not decide what light bulbs I want to buy and use. How dare they meddle in such private matters as what light bulbs I use? It is I who pay the electricity bill, not the government. I don’t like the light the new energy light bulbs emit and they don’t work with dimmer switches. But now I have no choice but to put up with the cold glare of the new light bulbs. Therefore, repeal the ban! If the EU is an obstacle to repealing the ban, tell them to lump it. And please don’t say that it’s not possible. Britian has already opted out of the Schengen Agreement and the Social Charter, so it evidently is possible.
