Why cant the government trust the individual to use their common sense. The government's 'maternal' instinct to protect it's citizens has resulted in over protective and over bearing legislation. The fear of litigation has resulted in some crazy H&S decisions… like trees getting cut down in school playgrounds on the off chance a child might climb up one and fall! not to mention the ever increasing amount of H&S signage on our roads and in our buildings. By trying to highlight every single danger, all that happens is we simply ignore all of them… even the ones that might actually prove important
By capping compensation and reducing ones fear of litigation we might all live a little freer.
Government should not be about creating laws to protect the stupid minority at the expense of the sensible majority….. have a little faith in your voters.
Why does this idea matter?
over bearing legislation has huge knock on effects on our everyday lives.
