Repeal local legislation

Comment 7th July 2010

To construct a building in certain areas of the country, there are additional requirements, over and above the national building regulations. Why should a warehouse on one side of a road have to have sprinklers, when on the other side it doesn,t.

This adds confusion for developers & may affect the viability of the build. (An example is the Greater Manchester Act 1981 sections 61 – 64)

Repeal was considered about 15 years ago.

Why does this matter?

Confusion for developers, national Building Regulations if applicable in one council area should be valid in others
