Repeal the Biggest Quango Of Them All

Comment 3rd July 2010

Repeal the 1972 European Communities Act.

Why does this matter?

I am in favour of a United States of Europe – always have been. However, the EU does NOT conform with the free, democratic and decentralised model I was led to believe it would be. This became evident to me personally with the Maastricht Treaty (the first treaty that I actually read). Our political class has ceded far too much of OUR sovereignty to this appalling proto-monster of a government. And they have consistently lied on record about it, from Mr Heath to (notably) a current Liberal politician. The degree to which Brussels defines our eveyday life means that they can overturn virtually any repeal we wish to make. Therefore I propose that, as an essential basis for other repressive laws to be repealed,  we should repeal the 1972 European Communities Act. I cannot see how any other repeals will work without this fundamental step.
