Repeal the Poison Acts

Comment 12th July 2010

Repeal the series of Poisons Acts that started in 1932, so that people can purchase common household chemicals, many of which have perfectly legitimate uses. If there are particularly dangerous chemicals, then people can sign the poisons book.

Why does this matter?

Because we have become so oppressed that gradually everything is being banned. Just wait, the next thing will be all codeine products. Right now, some doctor or scientific advisor or meddling official somewhere, is machinating to make YOUR drains harder to unblock, YOUR tension headaches dependent on the whims of a GP to resolve, YOUR weeds more difficult to get rid of. You can't even get devent fly papers any more. This is a powerful indication of whether we are treated as adults, and what that even means in a thoroughly bureaucratised state.
