Repeal the smoking ban

Comment 2nd July 2010

To repeal the ban on smoking in public places. Allow owners the discression to allow smoking on their premises.

Why does this matter?

Social cohesion, economic wellbeing, and the happiness of millions has been seriously harmed by the smoking ban in public houses. An institution at the heart of British society has been all but destroyed by a nannying state and led to a harmful rise in solitary drinking particularly amongst older and more vulnerable people. The young no longer have role models to educate them on sensible drinking and turn instead to street drinking. Villages and small communities lose their central focus of discourse. The unintended consequences of this act have effected many other aspects of life, from the reduction in the number of live music venues to rural unemployment. Repeal now!
