Repeal the TMA 2004

Comment 18th July 2010

The traffic Management Act 2004 should be repealed, specifically with regards to the requirements for streetworks undertakers to provide specific notice types to local Authorities in order to commence works in the highway.

Why does this matter?

The noticing requirements of the traffic management act cost businesses a lot more money to administer and manage – but the councils also have a lot more administration to undertake as well.  I understand the need for improved management, but the TMA makes a supposedly simple process incredibly complicated.

The idea of some councils moving to a "permit" system also adds an extra level of beurocracy that needent exist
