restricted purchase of everyday painkillers

Comment 5th July 2010

I would like to see restrictions on the purchase of everyday painkillere like paracetamol or ibuprofen etc. removed.

Why does this matter?

The pittifully small amount (16 tablets) that one is able to buy at a time imply that adults are incapable of controlling their use.   If one has a conditon e.g back pain, that is known, does not need a visit to the doctor for a prescription and is likely to last for several days, it is impossible to buy more that 2 days supply in one transaction.   Acquiring the number of tablets to treat the condition for the days when one is affected means visits to several suppliers or a totally unnecessary visit to a doctor to get a prescripion.
