Retention of Supporting People Funding

Comment 24th July 2010

We are trustees of an Abbeyfield Society in Keynsham providing sheltered accommodation for nine elderly residents. We receive a supporting people subsidy for some of our residents who are unable to pay the total rental without this support. Therefore any changes or withdrawal to this funding by the Coalition Government  would be detrimental.

Why does this matter?

The Abbeyfield Society offers reasonable priced accommodation to all applicants, but without SP funding only individuals with sufficient private means will be considered for residency. This action is detrimental to the ethos of the Abbeyfield Society which prides itself on providing care in housing for all older people.
