Return to fixed penalty for speeding

Comment 28th July 2010

£60 fine and 3 points on your licence is a fairer and faster way of dealing with speeding up to 10 miles over 30mph speed limit. JPs now spend ages working out how much individuals should pay under an arbituary system of paying according to income. Individuals who know the system can offer no answer to income and no evidence of income is required. Other factors then have to be taken into account and the process is bureaucratic and unecessarily lengthy.

Why does this matter?

Present system slows up the courts and makes a mockery of equality
