Review the use of Terrorism Laws in normal day to day policing

Comment 2nd July 2010

The use of terrorism laws in normal day to policing must end.

Why does this matter?

It is clear the police cannot use these laws correctly and use them as a way of generally policing the state. If they meet a problem they cannot resolve by any other legal means they have attempted to use terrorism laws as a catch all. If they cannot use these laws correctly then the laws must go. The Prevention of Terrorism act is for our safety but not for general policing of the state.

Photographers must be free to take picture of buildings, buses and policemen without the threat and misuse of the powers of arrest. This has happened too often and weak labour politicians have failed to protect the people.
