Revise the Freedom of Information Act

Comment 14th August 2010

Handling Freedom of Information Requests places a huge burdon on the public sector. I find that it hugely detracts from my operational duties, even simple requests taking 1hr plus of workers' time to process and check.  Most requests appear to either be made on a whim or to further complaints from persistant complainants. The Act should be reviewed and in the very least the threasholds for releasing information revised up so that there is a more equitable balance of the right to information with the burden it places on the organisation, if affects so many staff, not just those who work in statsitics and information roles.

Why does this matter?

Because the cost in resources and time is vast and means that workers have less time on front line duties.
