Same-sex Marriage

Comment 7th July 2010

Extend marriage laws to include couples of the same sex. Civil Partnerships to be either abolished or extended to opposite-sex couples.

Why does this matter?

Surely restoring civil liberties starts with everyone having the same ones before the law. Same-sex couples are recognised as legally equal to straight couples since the Civil Partnerships Act, but they still don't have the same rights to marriage. Equally, opposite-sex couples who want recognition but not marriage have no choices.
