Stop religious schools of any kind being funded by the state

Comment 4th July 2010

Stop religious schools of any kind being funded by the state.

Why does this matter?

Firstly, this would save the state a sizeable amount of money.

Secondly, the state should be entirely secular. A sizeable portion of the population is atheist and does not wish to fund religion.

Thirdly, religion isn't a good thing.  It is highly divisive and is ultimately at the root of very expensive problems (in human as well as financial terms).  To name a couple of them for starters, the Northern Irish Troubles are still far from having gone away, and we will be combatting religious-based terrorism responsible for the London bombings for a long time to come.

Why add fuel to the fire?
