Student Letting Planning Permission order 2010

Comment 23rd July 2010

If I buy a property for my Student Son or Daughter  to use while the are in University, I must obtain Planning Permission if they take on 3 non familly members to share the property and costs.

With this new order I must undertake a costly and lengthly proceedure to get planning permission before my son or daughter can house their 3 friends next term.

Why does this matter?

This Red Tape is not only a case of expensive Red Tape for the home owner but additional work for the planners.

This Red Tape is not required for existing student property letters.

This Red Tape will discourage parents from buying and upgrading rundown properties in rundown areas making them habitable, safe and productive for future occupancy.

This Red Tape will mean that Universitys will have to get undertake to responsibility of housing 2nd and 3rd year students in the future.
