Sunday Trading Law extension

Comment 26th July 2010

I think it is a little crazy that supermarkets and alike can open 24 hours a day during the week but shut in the early afternoon on a Sunday.  There are many occasions when it would be very useful to have longer trading hours.

Why does this matter?

It would help our economy during our troubled time.  Having shops open for longer gives people more opportunity to consume and will give staff who want to work longer the chance to do so.

Also we are a modern dynamic country in many ways and although we should not forget our roots or traditions, this law feels incongruous in a modern Britain.
